26.8.2013 – Conference on Church Archaeology in the Baltic Sea Region

Turku, Finland on 26th–30th August 2013

Invitation – Second CALL FOR PAPERS and posters

We invite you to the Conference on Church Archaeology in the Baltic Sea Region to be held in Turku, Finland August 26th–30th 2013.

Themes:

  • Church as a space of worship
  • Artefacts
  • Churches and written sources
  • Burials
  • Or theme of your own

Those willing to give a paper are kindly requested to send its title and a short description of the subject (max. 200 words in English) including their name, institution and contact information to: tanja.ratilainen(at)utu.fi by December 31th 2012. A board consisting of representatives from the organizing parties will review the proposals. The accepted speakers will be informed by March 31st 2013. The duration of the papers: 20 min + 10 min for discussion. Language: English.

For those interested in giving a poster are kindly requested to send their title in English including their name, institution and contact information to: tanja.ratilainen(at)utu.fi. Instructions for poster layout will be sent later on.

During the conference there will be excursions to churches of Satakunta and Finland Proper.

Proceedings will be published in Archaeologia Medii Aevi Finlandiae (AMAF) and they will be peer-reviewed. Those participating the poster session are also welcome to contribute.

We will try our utmost to minimize the costs of the participants. Further information on the participation fees and accommodation in Turku will be delivered later on.
